Date Night Idea

 

If you are anything like me you love the idea of a picnic.  Yummy food, awesome company, and the great outdoors.  I own the fancy basket with the mini plastic wine glasses, flimsy cutlery, and tiny space to fit all your food – it’s pretty but not super practical.  Unfortunately, though, the reality is we hardly ever have time during warm daylight hours to go on a proper picnic.

But, who says you can’t take that pretty basket for a spin, winter or summer?

So, last winter when it was cold outside, Mike and I had a picnic for Friday night date night – on our lounge room floor!

We talked about the idea in the days leading up to date night and then went to the grocery store together to get our tasty treats – chips, fancy cheese, pre-made salads, chicken, and of course bubbles.

For my husband, it did require a bit of coaxing from me to get him to fully play along.  But before long we had everything packed nicely in the basket and we were ready for our picnic.

We laid out the picnic blanket in the middle of the lounge and spent an extended meal time enjoying each others company with a bit of acoustic background music.  Best of all – there were no bugs or seagulls!
